Training Philosophies
As a life long devotee to fitness and exercise, I think that the most important aspect of fitness is developing a fitness habit in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Treating fitness just like you would any other important aspect of our lives, whether it is seeing the dentist or eating a healthy diet is something we all need to ingrain in our lives.  Making time for your workout just like you would any other aspect in your busy life is how fitness can become a habit.  Exercise needs to become a habit in our lives!

positive, well balanced life.

PERSONAL TRAINING OR FITNESS CERTIFICATIONS:
- AFAA CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
- YOGA ALLIANCE OF AMERICA 200 HOUR CERTIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR
- MADD DOGG ATHLETICS CERTIFIED SPINNING INSTRUCTOR

YEARS TRAINING:
BALLET, YOGA, ROLLER DERBY, CYCLING AND RUNNING HAVE BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE FOR YEARS. The addition of teaching Yoga and SPINNING has added a whole new level of training.  Being able to work with others in a way that is both challenging and fun has been a wonderful experience and I am constantly looking for ways to keep things fun and exciting.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:

When you find something you truly enjoy doing, you are extremely likely to keep coming back to that activity, whether it's lifting weights, riding a bicycle, or playing roller derby.  When the border between exercise and play becomes blurred, one is likely to make the activity a habit in their daily life.

I strive to help clients find things that are enjoyable and interesting to help them make physical activity a part of their daily life.  By using my knowledge of anatomy, along with my love and knowledge of Yoga, I help others learn to lsten to their bodies to get the best and most efficient workout possible. If you don't love what you do, you won't want to do it, it's that simple.

TRAINING TIP:
First and foremost, on must always honor their body.  Every body is different, and capable of different things.  Treat your body with respect, and you can be the athlete you are meant to be.  Fuel your body with good food, get plenty of rest when needed, and find an exercise program that makes you happy.  These are keys to happy and longevity!

EDUCATION:
- GRADUATE OF THE COLUMBUS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN WITH A BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS, MINOR IN ART THERAPY

 Markus Van Meter

PERSONAL TRAINING OR FITNESS CERTIFICATIONS:
Currently preparing for American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer

YEARS TRAINING:

I have started personal training after working with numerous trainers at Hilliard over a span of 17 years.  I am currently an active competitor in the Musclemania Bodybuilding Federation as a Master and will be working towards a pro-card in 2011 in the open category.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:

I believe in power lifting for bodybuilding and the only way to stimulate quality growth in a muscle is with using heavy weight.  Clients seeking power and strength should work using the conjugate method and clients seeking general toning and fitness would be better served using machines for isolation and high reps.  Combine both of these methods and you can put on size and shape a quality muscle.  Always happy to take a question or answer an email thru my web site at mvmfitness.com

TRAINING TIP:

Anyone can come into the gym and train hard.  That’s the easy part.  The hard work is done in the kitchen.  Get your diet in order and you will be surprised how well the rest of your training program comes together.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:
I base my workouts on functional and core training.  I focus on exercises that can benefit you in everyday life and at the same time, give the physique that you've always wanted, for the most part I focus on using free weights as much as possible so that not matter what exercise it is you're doing, it will benefit the mid-section.

PERSONAL TRAINING OR FITNESS CERTIFICATIONS:
AFAA CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:
My training philosophies vary depending on my client's specific goals.  I believe that mental focus and intensity are a huge part of my training routine.

TRAINING TIP:
Your muscles are 40% stronger in the eccentric(negative) phase of a rep so putting more emphasis on the negative side of a rep can have a big impact on strength gains.

Curt Livingston

PERSONAL TRAINING OR FITNESS CERTIFICATIONS:
AFAA CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER

TRAINING EXPERIENCE
10 Years advanced resistance and endurance training
2 Years competitive bodybuilding
1 Year personal training

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:
Training philosophies are highly dependent on personal goals.  However, I do believe that all training applications should include strength, flexibility, cardiovascular/endurance.  Clients/Athletes should always use smart goals.
Specific
Measurable
Action Oriented
Realistic
Timeline Based

TRAINING TIP:
Guys: Avoiding cardio will not make you stronger or more muscular. It will just make you fat.  There is research to support that cardio training will actually aid in the muscle building process.  If applied at appropriate levels cardio will make your heart healthier, your body leaner and clearer.

Ladies: Lifting weights, even heavy weights will not make you bulky.  A lot of women fear that they will look like Ms. Olympia if they even think of lifting weights. It is ridiculous and insulting to believe you might accidently look like someone who has trained, dieted, and sacrificed many years in order to obtain their physique.  Please do not let the fear of getting bulky keep you from completely applying yourself to your workouts.

Everybody: Legs are the foundation of every physique.  Legs are very strong and do require intense effort.  They are the most demanding yet most rewarding body part to train.  If you are thinking of skimping on the leg training think again!

Kevin O'Brien

PERSONAL TRAINING
ACE CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER (American Council on Exercise)

YEARS TRAINING:

I have been involved in strength training for 20+ years. In high school and college I competed in bench press competitions. I have been a Certified Personal Trainer for 7 years and Boot Camp instructor for about a year.

TRAINING PHILOSOPHIES:

Every client is different, so I utilize an individualized program to benefit each client. Core strength is vital. Proper form is more important than how much weight you lift. A program should be a balance between strength and cardio.
