Power Shack is a licensed provider for SPIN™ classes, the original group cycling program created by Schwinn™. Specially designed stationary bicycles and a Schwinn™ certified instructor take you through a cycling workout that makes you feel as if you are doing the real thing (without the unpredictable outdoor weather conditions)! Classes provide an intense and efficient cardiovascular workout in 40 minutes. THE ULTIMATE RIDE! SPIN™ classes are available at the Hilliard and Pickerington locations only.
The Scoop on Spinning Spinning was created by world-class cyclist "Jonny G." Goldberg as a convenient and quick way to train for races. In 1989, he and John Baudhuin opened the first spinning center in Santa Monica, California and then developed a program to certify other spinning instructors. Curious to know about this spinning thing? The following info will help you decide if it's for you: What is it? Spinning is an aerobic exercise that takes place on a specially designed stationary bicycle called (obviously enough) a spinning bike. As you pedal, motivating music plays and the instructor talks you through a visualization of an outdoor cycling workout: "You're going up a long hill now, you can't see the top yet.…" During the class you vary your pace -- sometimes pedaling as fast as you can, other times cranking up the tension and pedaling slowly from a standing position. This helps you to focus inwardly and work on your mind as well as your body. SPINNING Fundraiser to be held at Hilliard On February 27, 2010, participating health clubs nationwide will be hosting two special one-hour indoor cycling classes to benefit Ride 2 Recovery, a charity benefiting mental and physical rehabilitation of men and women in the armed forces. There is a minimum $75 donation to ride that you can pay out of pocket or fundraise. The minimum donation is not due at the time of registration; however Ride 2 Recovery must receive the donation before February 24th in order for you to be included on the Spinning Nation roster on the event day. Special Announcement: The top fund raiser will be awarded a Spinner® NXT bike (a $1,395.00 value!) John Baudhuin, the CEO and founder of Mad Dogg Athletics, says “When we donated the first Spinning Centers to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, we were immediately taken by the tremendous struggle that so many men and women in the armed forces face in recovering from physical and mental trauma. Seeing the program in action has really opened our eyes to the need for programs like Spinning to help these determined and courageous individuals recover from their injuries. SpinningNation is a perfect event to help benefit such a charity.” Power Shack Fitness Center in Hilliard, Ohio, will be the only central Ohio health club to sponsor the Ride 2 Recover fundraiser.
